A short story of becoming a father
Just looking at what my son doesn't have while others have is much more painful than you may think, unbearalbe or even unacceptalbe than I don't have while everyone else has.
On a day of my son asked me if he could have a Nintendo otherwise he should keep playing with '깡통 Nintendo' (which means a empty box of Nintendo) while others have played with real one.
...내 아들에게 남들이 가지고 있는 그 무엇을 해주지 못했을 때 느끼는 그 몹쓸 감정은, 내가 원하는 무언가를 갖을 수 없을 때 느끼는 그것과는 감히 비교도 할 수 없을만큼 고통스럽다.
무조건 들어주는게 결코 바람직하지 않다는 것을 잘 알고 있음에도 불구하고, 닌텐도 빈박스를 손에 쥔채 다른 아이들의 허세 앞에 굽신거릴 그 녀석을 생각하면...
가끔씩은 그 동안 지켜왔던 교육철학이고 뭐고 죄다 팽개쳐 버리고 싶을 때가 있다.
